Another adorable nephew

My baby brother Bruce and his wife Michelle welcomed Calvin Ison Coppess into the world on Monday, September 5th at 6:50pm. Calvin weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches. Calvin's most distinguishing feature is his beautiful head of thick, dark brown hair. Calvin was born 3 weeks early which was perfect timing so that I could see him on my trip home to Idaho in September.  Such a sweet baby and so adorable. Another incredible blessing in our family.

Beautiful new nephew, Cole

Congratulations to my brother Mark and his wife Kara -- they have a beautiful new baby boy! Below is the message he sent to our family today:

Tuesday evening Kara decided we should come to the hospital.  An hour later Kara was admitted and given something to help her sleep to rest up for the following morning—the doctors decided to induce her Wednesday at 7:00 am.  Throughout Wednesday Kara’s contractions grew closer and closer together and longer in duration.  To pass the time we played card games (go fish and crazy 8’s).  By Wednesday evening at 9:45 pm Kara was fully dilated (28 hours later) it was time for Kara to finish pushingAfter midnight Kara’s doctor made the call to perform a cesarean section.  Kara was exhausted.  Having spent the first 14 hours of the day with contractions spaced less than five minutes apart, I was amazed at how hard she pushed for the final two and a half hours.  I could tell that she was disappointed when she was told of the change in plans, but she also seemed relieved that it would be over very soon.  Thirty minutes later, approaching 1:00 am she had a crowd of nurses and doctors gathered around her to perform the cesarean birth.  In a matter of minutes, the Cole was born.  Born three weeks early at 1:07 am on the 23rd of June, Cole measured twenty inches in length and eight pounds even.  Immediately after they pulled him from Kara’s tummy a small crew took him to what appeared to be a mild heat lamp where they cut the cord and cleaned him up.  On her back, with her view blocked by hanging blankets, Kara was trying to see her baby.  I was able to take a few pictures on our camera and show them to Kara while she waited.  When Cole was finally cleaned up, they brought him over to momma for a quick introduction and photograph and then took him off to get all the administrative ***** completed.  The rest of the night and morning was filled with transferring to a new section of the hospital, monitoring of Kara’s vital statistics, and consultations from various subject matter experts.  Cole has slept through most of it.  Both he and Kara are tired but seem to be doing very well.

Birthday Puppies

My neice Jane turns 7 this year and she's getting 2 little labrador retriever puppies. The black female is Sammy and the chocolate female is Ginger. We went to see them the day of Janie's birthday party when they were about 4 weeks old.
